"Your choice Dave, but I can promise you Ive worked on at least 20 machines that were using Bordeau ink, and every one of them needed new heads because the particles in the ink is clogging the nozzles. Can you pull ink through the heads with the…"

Todd Collins replied to Andrea Hernandez's discussion HELP WITH PERF CUT SETTINGS
"Hi Andrea. I would replace the cutting strip, and then retest your settings. Likely your cutting strip has some areas that are worn further than others causing your force to be inconsistent."

Todd Collins replied to TurboDave's discussion Megentta and Black not getting ink to the head
"We have a winner! Bourdeau ink is known to cause clogged heads. With your heads over 10 years old, I would have to think that they are over their 6 billion shot count expected life.  I'd say you're due for new heads, dampers, captops…"

Todd Collins replied to TurboDave's discussion Megentta and Black not getting ink to the head
"Hi Dave. First things first. How old are the heads? How old are the captops? (the ones in your photo are junk. doesnt matter how old they are. Do you have 4 new captops to install?) The wipers definitely need replaced. (the yellow ink on the captop…"

Todd Collins replied to Brennan P's discussion SP-540v - light overspray, followed by mis-printing horizontal & bi-directional head test boxes
"It looks like your bidirectional is off. The slant or bias is very slightly off, but doesnt look off enough to cause your issue. Like Irv said, do the bidirectionals in service mode, then in user mode. Dont do the simple, do the detailed. The reason…"

Todd Collins replied to Ryan's discussion NEED HELP with my Roland pro 4 xr-640!
"That makes sense. You can check the fuses on the head board to see if they have popped for some reason. If they are good then yes, the heads are just clogged up. I'm not terribly far away from you should you need a tech onsite..."

Todd Collins replied to Juan's discussion My Roland VP 540 Tool Carriage move but dont moving up and down

Todd Collins replied to Trever Bartley's discussion Print printing dull instead of sharp crisp print. Help!
"Hi Trevor, Clearly your yellow head is badly misaligned. Also it looks as if the good print is on a cast glossy vinyl, and the one you are unhappy with looks like a calendared matte film. With your heads so far out of alignment, it would be…"

Todd Collins replied to Wayne Grecco's discussion Anyone on here know about the Roland TRUVIS VG-640?
"I would still try adding a layer of transfer tape to the heater area and see  if the material will release better. We've had this same issue with a lot of the VG machines in my area and banner material. "

Todd Collins replied to Marco Concato's discussion Overspray but Test Print nozzles Perfect?
"Hi Marco, What is the humidity level in your shop? What material are you printing on? Is your head height set to high or low? Are you using a static control device?"

Yes. I tried different profiles. I use generic vinyl 1 on my BN-20 and its great but no profile seems to help on the vs540. I just purchased the machine and I'm trying to dial it in.
