Question, how long does a cutting carriage (that carries the blade and cutter) should last? I know there is different variables such as how much you cut, what you cut, etc., but on average?Continue

Mike Bertrand replied to Luis Pizano-Bermudez's discussion Black Nozzle Problem!
"I'm a novice BN-20 user of 3 years. Those appear to be black nozzle deflections. I'm told it can be from a head strike(s) or nozzle blockages, possibly old ink. Mine had the same problem but worse. I tried several head soaks to free…"

"Nah, you don't need to hem the edges at all. Material is already anti-curl as you mentioned. I print on Roland's recommended media for Retractable Banners. Great prints and no issues at all. Download the ICC profile if you do plan on using…"

"I do not personally get in the weeds as such - I am sure it is. What I will say - pre-press is less and used for raster images where you need or want less ink and max used more since it is line art and can push the limits on vectors."

"Solved. It appears the vinyl was the issue. I switched to britline, Grimco's brand, and the print is back to normal. Question about Color management settings. I've done test with pre-press US and Max Impact on the spot vector image I am…"

"Force looks high on perf, but that would depend on mils. All else looks ok, not sure why your offset is .3 but that will just throw off your cuts -  I would try 2 passes and reduce your force some. A pointer When doing perfs - I add extra on…"

"Looks as if you are only using the perfcut and not the contour cut also. Secondly looks like your perfs are two far apart so it is delaminating the project, lastly ensure you are using correct pressure to laminate."

Rough Edges on Stickers

Hello,I'm currently using 3164G media with 200 Gloss Laminate. As I am perf cutting the stickers/design, I got these very bumpy/rough edges. It seems like the laminate portion is lifting up on the edges from the actual media? Does anyone know why this is happening? The image is a bit blurry but you can see what I am talking about.See More

"I will give it a shot. Thanks for your input. The problem seems to have started when I started using 3164g. It just did not occur to me until now. I blamed aftermarket inks I was using at the time. As long as 3164 take eco solvent it has to be a…"

"I use 3641 and 3651 all the time.....same line as the 3164. The 3651 rarely runs into issues the 3641 however does the grainy stuff from time to time. From my experience with 3640 the 3169 profile works best."

"The spec sheet for media says Inkjet printing with solvent-based inks, UV- or latex inks. eco-solvent is still solvent-based correct? But it still could be bad vinyl I guess. It seems this has happened on last couple of rolls of vinyl. All are…"

"Great to hear. Bad vinyl is always a possibility, but I will say too early in the process to tell. Would need to see the graininess, which is hard to see in a photo. So ensure your vinyl is clean, wipe with a lint free cloth.  Gen 2 is a good…"
