I would look at alumiboard or maybe sintra as they will not be affected by the weather.

I've been asked to replace an old billboard type sign at a auto repair store. The sign is about 10' x 4' and has a somewhat deteriorated wooden backing. What's the best material to use as the base for the sign? Should I use MDO or some type of plastic? The sign is going to be subjected to a lot of sun and what little weather we have in So Cal.
