Doing a cut only job yesterday, everything is fine.  Open up a new roll of black Sport Film light, I can not get a complete cut!

The vinyl is sticking (static), rolling up and ruining the cut and/or jamming the machine up.  Throw in a scrap of black sport film...no problem,  throw in a roll of white sport film....no problem,  cut quickprint earlier today, no problem.  What could possibly be causing this one roll to cling to the machine like that?

I have wiped with anti-static dryer sheets, fastened dryer sheets to the rollers wiped the vinyl down...nothing works.

I am at a loss.  I am next going to try cutting the vinyl in sections and wipe down the non cut side with

dryer sheet and do the job piece by piece.

It;s just this one roll.

Does it look like this - check attached video

If so, it is a static problem and a stop static kit will fix it right away!

I have seen it a few times in different shops :)

Yes, that's what it is doing, like I said just this roll.  Frustrating, because I have things that have to get done.

Still not understanding why it only does it on this roll and not others.

Some media, during the manufacturing process, can pick up a static charge that is compounded when you try to unroll and cut it. This particular roll has that. I have seen it more often in white but it can occur on any cut media.

Is there any kind of grounding that can be done to help?  I could have a ground wire run to my cutting room easily.

The only thing I have seen reliably fix it is the stop static kit. - it is an ionized cord that removes the charge as it goes across into the printer.

Ok, where do I get one?

Call IW tomorrow and they can get you all set - 800-347-0068
