versacamm print "bending"
It seems that fromm time to time the versacamm 300 vp will gradually "bend" the print.
The interesting thing is that the cutting is fine, and that it is not a "wheel" slippage based issue.
I heard that it could be the "electronic strip or band" that gets dirty just above the head holder mechanism. Is this the problem? I am sure it is not software. perhaps the wire that the head mechanism goes back and forward on?
If you know the solution I would very much appreciate any advice ! thanks in advance Mike S.

Mike can you provide a picture of what you are calling bending - I would like to see where it is bending before I can make any suggestions. The electronic strip or band - called the encoder strip - provides information to the head or where to place the ink dots - so if bad prints then I would look there. The cable that the head rolls on if not tensioned correctly would cause some of the other errors you mentioned as in the cuts, and misprinting. So what is the model of your printer - I see you stated 300 vp - so I would take it that you have a VP-300. Do you know the year and provide your VW version and Firmware version - if you need help finding - go into VW printer tab - print settings.

Hey thanks Irving, yeah it's a vp 300...firm 6.2 i think. He he...I know "bending is a bad description. wel as it prints, it slowly starts each band, slightly more left than the last...producing what in the end is a bend...instead of a line....for instance...instaea of a square....i would get banner or flag shape. I think it is the strip....just don't know the best way to clean it etc...the machine is not mine..but it is 5 years old at least and on Bulk Ink system, frankly, after using the "pro3" "pro2" and 540i......I would say the quality is awful....I have recalibrated the bi-directional and the feed..etc,etc..but I suppose you get what you pay for. That being said, I know another fellow with a new vp300 not on bulk...and I was very impressed with the quality...but thats another discussion hehe.!

Mike I understand all the hehehe's. Ok so it is a print bending instead of a physical bending. That makes a difference. I am not going to say it is your strip yet, but what I can tell you - if you need to clean - use Denatured Alcohol only. Do not use the cleaning fluid as it will wipe the strip clean of all the needed markings. Use a lint free cloth and wipe both sides. I will tell you that bulk systems has a tendency to spray excessive ink. If you open the top cover you might find that your strip is coated with a mist of the ink causing it to lose its reference. I will check further but in the mean time if you want to clean - just use plain alcohol.

Without seeing a picture - the symtoms point to the encoder strip.

Sounds just like an encoder strip error. Clean it as Irv says with a alcohol swab

well i made the pages for the site in microsoft office "publisher"....I know it isn't great...I will revamp the whole thing soon..hehe. I have not been working a lot the last 3 years...(after a car accident)....I will probably refocus on printing backdrops for the film Industry here etc........barring a lottery win or divine intervention...
How is biz? sounds like your company is a very interesting place to work....too bad I am up in Canada...I would love to see the machines in action!
