Permalink Reply by Mike F on March 17, 2011 at 4:28pm We just got a VS-640 in the double CMYK configuration at the end of February, along with a Royal Sovereign RSH-1651 laminator. I've only in the past week or so started to dig into them and do some stuff, but I'm loving everything so far. Already did a few 10"x20" prints and a 28.5"x57.5" poster, both laminated, along with a few sets of contour cut adhesive vinyl stickers, one set just print/cut, then a set each of 2 different designs that were print/lam/cut. It takes a little bit of trial and error at first, especially the laminator, but I feel like I'm picking it up pretty quick. The best part is, I had zero print experience up until about 3 months ago. The shop I work at is mostly offset, and they originally brought me in to lend a hand with their Kodak Insite Storefront, and now I'm also running the wide format show. Basically I knew a guy who knew a guy and I have an excellent background in general computer/internet/design stuff, so they decided to give me a shot and see if I could pick everything up. I've learned a helluvalot in the past 3 months, and still have a LOT to learn, both in the offset and digital/wide format realms, which is what landed me here, among a few other forums. Shame I only stumbled on to this forum this week though, I'm from the Philadelphia area (over the bridge in Jersey, but I can see Philly from a hill in the town I live in) and would have loved to come to the recent meet up in Atlantic City to learn some stuff. Count me in on the next one that's close.
Anyway, I think that's a big enough wall of text for now, sorry for the ramble, just wanted to kinda introduce myself and say how awesome the VS-640 is. I look forward to learning from you all and hopefully in the future I can teach some of you a thing or two. Oh yea, and happy St. Patrick's Day to all my fellow Irishmen.
