Hey to all! First off, if anyone is pondering taking Steve's 101 and 102 In Shop classes up in Albany, I would have to say that it was an incredibly insightful two days for our shop! We plan on tackling some neat, new ideas after going there and worked some kinks out of prior problems. Thanks so much to Steve, Jen and Jess for hosting us and teaching us so much!!
My question is- does anyone use stretcher bars for canvas prints? IF so, can you recommend someplace that sells them (if you like them!)? Steve, what size were yours 1.5" or 3/4" width? I see there are two widths and I'm thinking yours were 1.5".
I am pretty sure the good ones were 1.5" and the ones we didn't like were .75"....I would love to hear about a good place for stretcher bars! I have been looking everywhere since the class this past weekend!!! My trouble is that I cannot find them smaller than 12" in length! Wendy - It was a pleasure having your team at the class! If we ever make it out your way we will definitely stop in!!
Jen beat me to it! It was great having you all out for the class and thanks for the kind words. Jen- do you have the info for the good place we did get them from? I just looked at the box for the bad ones and see it was http://www.wholesaleartsframes.com/
Steve posted this one about the 18 x 24 (yes...under my name...The nerve!) - I personally think sometimes the 18 x 24 is too big - perhaps a 12 x 18? If you are just starting out to try it, why waste the money on an 18 x 24? When I order, I will probably start with an 8 x 10 as the smallest and go up from there.
We received them- they seem GREAT! Very high quality, smooth- not splinter-ey or anything. We have made one print and stretched it, but haven't taken a picture... I'll have to get on that! They are definitely a top-notch company.
I am interested to see the results also! I am really not happy with the last 2 suppliers and need to find something good to work with. Looking forward to seeing those pictures!
