Hi all,
I have several macros that start up everytime I launch CorelDraw. Does anyone know where to turn features like that off?

I'm guessing, but I don't know for sure, that's how the macro was designed.................to start on launch.
What specific macros are you talking about?
I create buttons or toolbars for the macros that I use most often, so they're ready to go when I need them.
But I've never had one that runs automatically without user intervention.
There's a check box to delay VBA load at start-up under Customization but to tell you the truth I've never unchecked it and really don't what it does or doesn't do..............or if that option has anything to do with your problem.

Well..for the longest time I've had DAS Smart Designer installed. I almost never use it, but everytime I launch Corel, it launches on the side. I thought maybe I can close it then click "save as my default", but that didn't help. Anyways, I've always just left it. Recently I decided to test a cople of the Macros for Rhinestoning. At the same time I installed the GCCs Multiskin which is a shortcut tool for their Great Cut application.
Now when I launch Corel, the GCC multiskin app launches, the Rhinestone app launches, and DAS Smart Designer launches...yuck!
All of my other macros are like yours where I create a toolbar and launch them when needed. I wish I could get the 3 above to do the same. I'll give the "delay VBA load at start-up" option a try by turning it off.

Go to tools | macros | add in manager then un-check both load behavior boxes.
That fixed one of them.
Permalink Reply by Dennis Dunning on April 27, 2011 at 8:28am I was under the impression that once you load DAS Smart Designer on your computer, you cannot run CorelDRAW by itself.
Permalink Reply by CYW on April 27, 2011 at 9:32am Is that something new Dennis?
I haven't has SD installed on a working computer for many years but back when I did, you had the option of either [1] loading SD with Corel or just [2] opening Corel as usual.
What happens when you click on your Corel exe. link..................not the DAS exe?
Permalink Reply by Dennis Dunning on April 27, 2011 at 10:00am When I upgraded to CorelDRAW X5, I uninstalled Smart Designer because the compatible version was not yet available. I now have the version of Smart Designer that is compatible with X5 but have yet to install it. If my memory serves me well (and sometimes it doesn't), when I clicked on the CorelDRAW X4 shortcut on my Desktop, it always loaded Smart Designer. There is an option to manually load the Smart Desinger Command Center docker rather than have it load automatically when starting up CorelDRAW, perhaps this is what you were recalling. This appears to be a topic that needs clarification from DAS tech support. I will let you know what I learn.
P.S. I have become much more familiar with CorelDRAW since the time that I first purchased Smart Designer about a year ago. Many of the things that Smart Designer is designed to do, I can now do on my own using CorelDRAW. That being said, there are features of Smart Designer that I find useful, especially editing DAS designs. While I enjoy creating designs from scratch, there are times when you just can't beat what DAS has already created. I consider Smart Designer a tool, not a crutch.
Permalink Reply by CYW on April 27, 2011 at 10:52am No, that's not what I mean. I probably didn't explain properly.
If you click on the DAS desktop icon, I'm sure SD will load along with it's version of Corel, much like Wilcom does with embroidery software.
However, if you go to all programs and right click on Corel, send to Desktop (create icon), you'll now have a Corel stand-alone icon to launch.
That's the way it was.
Very distressing to know DAS wouldn't give you the option any longer....actually very hard to believe they would be even 'allowed' to do that.
All SD is is a super sized plug-in with tons of built in macros.
I doubt Corel would let their program to be compromised that way...............
but heck, what do I know?
Like I said, it's been quite a few years since I've used SD

Permalink Reply by Dennis Dunning on April 27, 2011 at 2:40pm My memory served me correctly this time. The answer from DAS tech support is:
Smart Designer becomes embedded into the Corel workspace so you will not be able to launch Corel independently.
Permalink Reply by CYW on April 27, 2011 at 2:47pm Holy moly...............that's incredible.
Thanks for that information, Dennis.
If I ever had even a remote thought of upgrading (which I don't) that for sure, would be a deal breaker.
I can't believe Corel would allow such a thing.
Wow
Can you tell I'm flabbergasted?
Again, thanks so much for that information.
Certainly an eye-opener for me!

Permalink Reply by Dennis Dunning on April 27, 2011 at 3:06pm By default. the Smart Designer Command Center docker loads automaticallyloads when CorelDRAW opens. You can turn off the automatic load and make it manual by going into the Workspace and Setting section of the Smart Designer Command Center and uncheck the box for loading the docker when CorelDRAW starts.
