I'm having problems with my printer.  I changed the (top) sponge (was completely soaked) and now it isn't printing.  I can faintly see the blue & black lines.  I did 2 powerful cleaning...still no change.  What can I try next?  (It has been plugged in and should have been running it's daily cleaning)

It wasn't printing black at 100% just before that (maybe at 60%) and I had just changed inks CY & MG during that last long run.  During that run it was also scraping up some of the material (T-Printz material) ...and it still only gets used part-time except for the large tshirt order I was in the middle of.

I did move it from the old shop, so it is probably more humid and dusty where it is now.

Pictures are: 1-good print, 2-printing at 60% black & scraped the material, 3-current print:  black and blue inks faintly printed, looks like a ghost image.

My guess with the soaked sponge is a bad captop. Make sure the captop is not clogged and is sealing properly. If  it is not sealing properly ink cannot be pulled into the head. Powerful cleans do little more than waste ink,try medium cleans instead.

Thank you!  I'll have to figure out how to check the captop...I don't know anything about under the cover!  (previous owner just told me to wipe the area around the sponge & replace it when soaked...guess he forgot a few things)

On the control panel push cleaning and power at the same time, arrow down to wiper change, push enter, remove the front cover the printhead will be out of the way, put a small amount of cleaning fluid in the captop it should drain quickly if not the captop is clogged and needs replacing.  You can also try cleaning the printhead you may have build up preventing the captop from sealing. There are several good videos that show proper cleaning and maintenance for the 300v.

Thanks!  I did try a manual cleaning of the captops & printheads (I was pretty careful of the printheads-didn't know if I should touch the bottoms) It was very gunked up around them both.  Then I did a test print...still only a couple of black hatch marks in one line.

post your test print, most 300v's have dropouts - let us see how bad it is maybe we can quide youin the right direction

LOL-Not even worth taking a pic-- it was literally 3 little black marks...I didn't even notice them at first.  I am assuming the worst...they hadn't been manually cleaned in several years!

could be clogged line / clogged head / bad head / captop issue etc. So many ways this could go bad. Any way to get a tech onsite? How far were you from me here in Clifton Park?

oh my!  We are 5 1/2 hrs from you!  Should I just start ordering parts???

No, lets take it one part at a time. Have you replaced the captop and done a powerful clean yet?

No, I haven't replaced anything...but I tried a powerful cleaning the other day. (2x actually)

Start with the captop replacement and then after it is changed, a powerful clean to clear the lines. DO NOT do anymore powerful cleans until you have replaced the captop as you will just be wasting ink until then.

Okay, I just ordered captop replacements from IMPRINTABLES...thanx so much Butch & Steve!!!
