A Digital Printing Network

Ok, Not happy right now. Have an order of 350 decals to get out on Monday. Just printed up 50 of them and my VP-300i finished the print went to cut and did not cut. Started beeping with the scan motor error 0080? Can someone please please tell me they have a fix to this and I don't have to wait until Monday and have a rep come out at some point? I have never seen this or heard of it. The machine just says to turn it off now and everytime I turn on I only get the error. Who wants to be my savior?  LOL please any help would be great.

Thanks Matt

Matt I must preface my statement by saying I am not a Tech - yet - I believe Steve is traveling today so he may be able to help you tomorrow - Sunday - which may give you time. My only further questions did the cutting head seperate from the print head? Are the heads now on the left side? It sounds like the heads attempted to go where they cannot. The machine would need to be resetted and calibrated. I do not have the manual with me so check there 1st. Hopes this helps while the smart people get back to you.
Hi Irving, They are still both on the right side. Everything looks good there. Imprintables set everything up for me so not sure on the calibration process. Guessing that is all in the manual? Should I try that for starters? Is that a difficult process?

Thanks Matt
From my understanding you might need second level support to get to the screen for calibration. Steve can help you through that part. But since everything is on the right - then I would first turn off the switch in the back - main power - to reset everthing - turn that back on - then sub-power on the front - if the error is still there - try calibration - it is under the maintenance menu section.
I have now graduated to "Service Call 0110" ? Not sure if that is better or worse?
Matt,

I on occasion will get random error messages. As Irv noted, try shutting off the main power switch in the back of th unit and wait a few minutes before turning it back on. Whenever I've done this it's taken care of the error message. I know this doesn't answer the question of why you got the message in the first place, but if it works, you'll at least be able to complete your job before Monday.
Man, That sounded great Kevin. I wish it were that easy for me. I turned off the mail power even over night and when turned back on today it wil back to the scan motor error message. No looking good here. Guess I need to call roland in the AM. Thanks for the try though.
Not good Matt - Service Call 0110 is the linear encoder error - It could be a number of things ranging from the encoder strip is dirty, to the strip has been damaged to the board has gone bad. How old is the unit? It cannot be that old being a VP 300i. I would first look at the linear encoder to see if it is damaged and if it is running through encoder reader. I think that you just might have to have a tech come out and do a service call. It may be any number of things, but start with the linear encoder.

Hope this helps!

Steven
6 Months at most on the machine. Pretty much brand now and I havent even gone through one set of ink cartridges yet. So busy with everything else right now. Guessing I will call them in the AM and try and get out a tech ASAP. I know it is still under warranty and need this fixed ASAP. Hope they can come out tomorrow?
Not sure if they can or not but I hope so also. Did you check your linear encoder strip to make sure it is clean? Use a rag with alcohol and wipe it down to see if it will read after that.
Still being a newbie, what/where is the linear encoder strip?
Should I know where the Linear Code Strip is? I will take a look in the morning.
I have an SP300. Here's a pdf showing where the strip is located on my machine. Not sure whether the location is the same on a VP300. It's a clear plastic like strip which runs the width of the VC. I have had to clean my strip a couple of times. On one occasion the dirty strip was causing my cuts to be off, and on another, it was causin the VC to print mysterious blue streaks across all of my jobs.
