A Digital Printing Network

It's about that time of the year where our demand for printing on the SP300i is not needed, therefore the printer sits idle for a month or two... Its almost almost been about a month since I've been on the printer printing off some stuff, and recently found in my test print that the Yellow was running into the Magenta. The first thing I did was put the Printer through a basic Normal Clean. I ran off another print test and all came back to normal =)

I've gotten into a routine of running a basic test print check every week to make sure that the printer is ready when needed.

If the yellow is running into the magenta that is an indication that your captop needs replacing. Doing the clean draws more through and is a temporary fix but the captop is going bad. Easy fix

It's been only 5~6 months ago since we replaced the captop... So you're saying that these captops don't last long? If it's something that only requires a good clean wouldn't that help solve the problem? I don't fully understand when you're saying that the captop is going bad. Teach me pls =)

Cap tops are rated for 6 months but if you clean and maintain them properly, they wil last much longer. it is an easy to replace part and not very expensive so it is always a good place to start when trouble shooting. It is also the highest cause of problems as it is sort of like an artery for us - the ink must flow properly through the cap top to keep the machine running right :)

Also a good idea to clean/swab every two weeks no matter how much it is being used. That down time is always when II run some cheap decal vinyl and print my own shop labels for the backs of upcoming jobs ;-)
