I know this occurs, but I don't think it has occurred that often for us. I am not really sure what determines when/why the cleaning cycle begins. But I guess as long as it continues printing its okay for now.... there could be worse things I suppose...
there is a setting in the submenu for periodic cleaning - check to see what yours is set at. It may be set too go too frequently.
What determines if it is cleaning? Or is it pulling ink into the dampers to continue printing? Just asking?
It should say that it is cleaning. If it is just making the cleaning sounds and does not say on the main screen "cleaning" then it is just recharging the dampers.
by Roland cleaning it self threw a print job does this use a lot of ink. my roland is doing this everytime on on a print job at least 3-4 times durring a print? please help
It uses only about 1 ml of ink for a normal head cleaning.
Hi Steve,
I went threw submenu to periodic clean and mine set to go off every 300 min?
should the settings be set for this. what do you recommend

Vee next time you print and your machine starts to do what you think is cleaning - read the LCD display and note what it is saying. It is my belief your machine is loading the necessary ink to continue the job. If the LCD states cleaning then that is what it is doing. If you check your system date and time and it is current, then schedule your cleaning overnight.. You can check your manual for the actual steps. If you do not have manual then download it from the download section here. If you do not see your manual, post it here and I will get it for you.
thanks Irving
. yes it just shows on LCD screen. cleaning. will do.. thanks again.

VEE - that is fine for the periodic cleaning. I think what is happening is that your dampers are recharging. Check to see if it says that it is cleaning when it does the part you are talking about or not and let us know.
Hi Steven,
Ya. looks like it reads "cleaning" if so i take this is ok? Not much to worry. Keep you posted. thanks again.
Happy Holidays everyone
Strange it cleans so often. Ours usually cleans when we turn it on in the morning and I'm not sure I've ever heard it clean during printing. But then again I don't usually sit right next to it when it is printing.
