I am looking into purchasing some rhinestone software to cut my own templates.  I don't have an engraver and purchaing one is out of the question.

Does the Roland R design work w/ cutters? I have the Roland VP 540 and also a Vinyl Express cutter that is 10 yrs old and a  tank of a cutter. Both I can control the force and how many times it would cut.

Suggestions?  Those w/ experience?  I need to act ASAP.

Deb, I don't do a lot of Rhinestone work, but I do have an old copy of R-Wear Studio around here somewhere and I'm able to use it to create templates by importing into Corel and sending to my cutter.
Also if you use Corel, you can do it manually by placing 'circles' using the [1] Blend tool, [2] Fitting Text to Path (using a font with a ROUND period) or {3] creating a custom Spray list.
The problem, for me anyway, is not so much the placement, but getting the sizing correct. Helper programs usually do that part for you automatically.

I have a great little macro that I use. I bought it when it was only about $30.00, unfortunately Luis has recently doubled the price. It does a wonderful job of automatically splitting the path at intersections before placing the stones and also has a nifty 'clean-up' button.
The only problem is that he still doesn't have an automatic fill option in place. If you need fills, you'd need to do that with contours before you run the design through the macro.
Here's the link, in case you want to take a look. Even at $60.00, it might be an alternative for you.

Hope some of this information helps..........

Sounds like alot of work if you ask me. I want something simple. My shop is busy and we dont' have time for creating circles unfortunately. I think i am going to go w/ WinPCSignPro software.
LOL
I understand busy.
We've been working 16+ hours a day for longer than I care to think about.

But I hope you didn't misunderstand. None of the options I mentioned require you to 'manually' create each circle.
I've never tried WinPC Pro's option but I've seen recently, on other forums, that some people are thinking about giving it a try.
Let us know how you like it.

Automatically breaking the path at intersections is a big deal for me. It leaves you with far less tweaking left to do. I'd love to know if WinPC also includes that as part of the process the same way Luis' FDO2P macro does.
