Quick Print Issues

Hello All,

For a while now we have had some issues with Quickprint. When we press the design there is always a small white edge around the design. We have put a bleed on the designs hoping that would help...hasn't. Is our pressure too much what the heck is going on with it? It makes it look pretty "cheap" on the garments. Not liking it at all. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this happen?

Eric, yes that is considered a bleed what you are doing, where the color goes beyond the cutline. The problem that people are having with the quick print is even if you have a huge bleed, when they press it a very thin white line appears around the outside edge, it's about the width of a strand of hair. I was told by a screen printer that the same thing happens on a dark garment when they have to print white for an underbase. You are actually seeing the depth of the ink or in our case the quickprint. Since the color doesn't go through the entire material this is why it's happening. I use a ton of quick print and like you if I can use a white border obviously no problemo but on the dark garments it's frustrating. I'm about as particular as it gets and it's not bothering me as much as it use to because when I'm using it I'm doing crazy graphics with multiple colors. When you hold the garment at arms length it's hard to see it so. If I'm doing straight solid color then I'd stick with the eco film.

Thanks everyone for all your advice and suggestions on this issue. I have been thinking pressure all along. I am going to play with the pressure today and if that doesn't fix the hairline white line I will just start adding white borders to many of my designs. I just don't remember this being an issue until recently which leads me to think maybe pressure is the issue.

I adjust my press like this: for t-shirts I place a dollar bill on 1 corner of the press allowing half to hang off the platen - close press and pull dollar bill out - a little drag should be all I feel - I adjust accordingly - I check all 4 corners - this is a good starting point for me and works well with mediun pressure media. For fleece I use a piece of printer paper folded twice - making 4 layers.
