I currently run a VersaCamm VP-300i.
This is my first time trying to print static cling decals.
The material is gmi Clear Static 8.0 MIL ( free sample :) )
The decal design is purely Royal Blue text.

Any details about how you print this type of material would be
greatly appreciated! Settings you use etc.

THANKS!
-April

I would start with getting the right profile for the material. Look here http://www.gmintl.com/sup_iccprofiles.html I also looked over GMI's site and did not see any 8 mil static cling material. What is the product number? Once we have the product number the correct profile can be gotten and the manufacturers recommended settings. If there is no profile, I usually start with GCVP and adjust from there until I get a good print. Let me know what the product number is and I will see what else I can find out.

Thanks,

~Steven
Follow the link below. I believe that is the product that I recieved. The roll I have was a free sample from a dealer and it has no product number on the inside label. I called the dealer and he couldn't tell me off hand either.

I will start with the GCVP and go from there. Any other help would be greatly appreciated. Little hints are always welcomed!
Thank you Steven!

Okay soooo I found the ICC profile for that product.... I'm not sure how to use it properly so I'm going by the manual and hopefully I can get it to work the FIRST time haha
use this video to see how to add a profile. http://www.myversacamm.com/video/adding-media-profiles-in

Hope this helps!

what profile did you find? Do you have a link to it? I am trying to see if I can find it.

Thanks,

~Steven
Below is the link for the icc profile page... I found it by click on "Application Instructions" at the bottom of the
first page from the link I posted above. At the top of the Application Instructions page it had several links and one of them was the ICC Profiles link.

got it! Let me know how the test print comes out. That seems like a VERY thick mil for static cling but I am always looking for new and better products!

Thanks,

Steven
DO YOU PRINT STATIC MIRROR?
Standard static - no. With many static cling materials you can put both sides towards a window so there is no need...
Okay... I can not get the icc profile from there website to load on my versaworks because i have a VP300"i" and it's only set up for a VP300. Darn it....

I've gone through the steps to set up a new media preset on my printer.... my printout looks great until I pull it off the white backing. The color is to dull and it looks as if the printer is not laying the ink down evenly. I'm stuck...

Should I print the decals a few times to make the color pop more, or am I missing something?
When printing static cling versus standard decals we have always had a color difference - the static cling does seem more dull than the standard decal.... I am not really sure why, I just always assumed it was just the way the material was supposed to be..... Oh Steve...... you must have a better answer than I!!
I have not been able to find a really good profile for static cling. We use solvex brand and so far have gotten the best results with GCVP profile but even that looks dull and a bit grainy. Have you treid using Max Impact for a color model preset? That should brighten up the colors a bit.

Hope this helps!
