Hi all,

I'm having some problems printing on basic poster paper. I'm using Intelicoat Magic GFIOP140SIJ and I'm not sure which ICC profile to use. Magic doesn't have an exact matching profile, but they have one for their thicker poster paper GFIOP212SIJ which the onlu difference is mine is 6mil and the 212 is 10mil.

I tried using the 212 profile and the color/quality looks good except for the black. Whenever black is printed, it looks blotchy with lines and little blue speckles. You can definitely see this fault in the printing when you tilt it at the light. At first I thought it was a problem with my black, but if I use a different profile or print on some other material with the correct profile, the black is fine.

I tried about 6 different "poster paper" profiles...glossy, semi-gloss, photo, etc and none of them look as smooth as the 212 profile. I finally got to the MPP-SG photo-semi gloss profile and the smoothness and colors look good, but the same blotchy thing happens on the black items.

Any suggestions?

That material is not IMHO the best on the market. I call it my ultra economy poster material. Usually we use it for donations etc. I use SGP2 on it for decent results but there is no specific profile that I could find for it.
Thanks for the info Steve. It was a sample roll I ordered for like $20.00...I think 10 yards. I wanted to give it a try. What do you use for simple indoor poster paper?
I have recently been using the IW 6 mil photo paper. Works great!
Steve,

Where can I get the SGP2 profile? I have SGP and SGP3, but no SGP2.

Thanks
SGP will do. SGP2 might be a version specific profile for the i series
I've tried the SGP and found online where people said they used SGP2 and it worked well. I just can't seem to find it. Is that a Roland profile or a profile from speicific material vendor?
roland specific - try updating versaworks
