Pictures Printing with Versa Camm
So I have asked this question before. I have a photo I want to print on Vivid Print. When I add the cutline, export it as eps to versa works, print it. The picture looks bad. Please help..
Attach is the orginal file, the eps (THe website will not let the eps file attach, it is too big), and pictures of the print. I used different Color Management Presets. This was Density Control DSC_0369.JPG This was Pre-Press usa DSC_0368.JPG THis was Max Impact DSC_0367.JPG

what size is the original jpg you are printing? and how large is the print you are printing?

Bad- Color is off. The shirt should be tan/brown. THe skin is to red. The orginal is 10in x 10in ish. Which is the same size I am printing. I took the orginal and imported into corel didn't change anything. Add a cutline and exported as eps for versa works.

With jpgs general rule, is Pre Press USA - max impact turns everything red/brown; when you export, are you exporting the image as RGB not CMYK? that may be part of the issue...

Just checked my eps export setting. Was set to RGB. The picture I took of the Pre Press USA looks better on this website, then the orginal off the printer. It is still red.

try different print profiles and use prepress with all. Some pictures are more difficult than others. Start with MCVP and see what it does.

I have heard saving the file as RGB and bringing it into Versaworks that way produces better results. Recently I found issues with printing from different applications other than Versaworks. When I color correct photos in Photoshop and print directly from there they look good. If I save the file as an EPS or Tiff file out of Photoshop and then place the image in Illustrator or QuarkXpress or InDesign, I get poor results. The colors look drab or muddy no matter if they are saved as CMYK or RGB. My suspicions are the color management used by each of the applications but I have not had time to explore all the color management options I have in each of them.

Hey I get great results converting the .jpg to a tiff print setting to RGB.
(With my sp300.)
Import .jpg to Corel13 export as a tiff to Versaworks..

I too have a lot of problems with color on photos. As a general rune, I turn the brightness up to 30% on every photo before exporting, but it doesn't solve all the problems. You might give it a try though.

When I have a problem with color photos. I print the original at Wally World or someplace like that. I will then scan the image at a resolution greater than 720 DPI. Cropping in the scan program. Then I use photoshop or corel to export an eps. In VW I use prepress and cut image borders. I use Orajet 3651 profiles.Most of my images pop. Hope this helps.

Sorry, should have added more. What I do is print the 3651 because it is cheaper and has close to same sheen as vivid print and other transfer films I use. Cheaper too! When I get where I want to be I print a test sample on a scrap piece of tranfer film always smaller than I need. I use the profiles for the particular media for my first test and then go from there. I have used 3651 profiles for transfer media with good results you just need to let it dry a while.
