NEED HELP PLEASE! Trying to Set up Cut Line process using Corel X3 and Versa Works

8/25/10 @ 11:38am
Dear Fellow Versacammers... I recently had to wipeout all the content on my computer and reupload all my software. In doing so I had to reinstall Corel X3 and and Versa Works. I am now having a problem setting up Corel to correctly produce the cutline that is supposed to show up in Versa Works. Originally this process was set up by the tech that installed VW on my SP300 printer.

I followed all of the instructions listed in the help section of VW (Creating Cut Data) but after I export my image including the cut line (CutContur) when I double click on my image in VW only a blue solid line appears around the image. Previously a rolling dotted line would appear indicating where the image was going to be cut.

Oh yea one other problem I noticed. Previously when the tech set up this process. I think he must have included a shortcut for selecting my cut contur in CX3 because all I had to do in corel was go to my default RGB palette and my (CutContur) color (Hot Pink) would appear as the first color in the upper left hand corner of the Pallet. Now after following the instructions in VW it seems to require that I go through a 5 step
process everytime I need to set a Cut contur line?

1- Select pallet drop down arrow
2- Select User's Palettes
3- Select Custome spot Colors
4- Select The CutContour color that I created (Note the color I created is R 212 G 48 B111)
5- Select OK

Like I said what used to be one quick easy step is now 5, so I assume that I must be doing something wrong.

I am sure this is not the first time someone has had this problem right? I would appreciate suggestions on how to correct this problem so that I can get my projects back on track ASAP.

Thanks.....Joe

Joe check out the video in the the videio section - http://myversacamm.com/video/complex-cutline - let me know if this helps
Thanks for your help Irving but that did not work for me. I don't understand why VW is not showing my cut line as the "dancing ants"? I am following the instructions exactly as listed in the VW help menu. I welcome any additional help you can provide....Joe
Two things right off -
1 - make sure you are using a spot color and a hairline
2 - make sure in the export menu you are not converting your spot color to an object

extra point
Ensure you are spelling CutContour correctly as I just did

when you go into the VW menu go to the cut tab and select cut only - if you do not see the dancing ants then you have no cut line - in some instances the cutline is behind the graphics
Irving, would it be possible to give me a call. If you have time I could sure use your help on this. Please email me at joedlamb44@yahoo.com and I will give you my phone number. Thanks for your assistance.
Joe
Tanks Irving I finally got it to all work out!
So what was this issue? How did you get it to work?
Well it seems that the software defaults to an AJ1000 printer. Since my machine was originally installed by a Roland Tech I was not aware of that small detail. In order to fix the problem I had to load the correct machine (SP300) then everything worked fine from there.
To all if you set up versaworks without a printer attached it will default to AJ1000. Once you connect your machine and set the network ID and Subnet Mask hit the verify button and the software will sync with your machine. If it does not find it, then you will need to start troubleshooting procedures on connectivity issues. Lata
Yea on my other compter I had to manually go throught the steps to help it find the correct machine. That part was no big deal once I figured it out.
