Hello Michele, I lost the first version of my response to you so here is the recap for your thoughts
You covered your connectivity with the USB cable and you want it less than 20' to assist with drop reduction - the machine requires some attention so you do not want to be too far from it.
You covered media - hope your white vinyl is decal so you can see how it contour cuts. You need to try some banner material.
Need to know your OS on your PC - some are touchy - also your hard drive space as VW needs room to process your design.
Also which software for processing desgns - Corel or AI for you need to work with vectors to do cuts.
If you are using a USB then an older machine - so who is setting it up - how are you being trained - are the heads in good order and do you know how to perform all of the checks and calibrations.
Also have some extra contour cut blades for those you will replace more than the sheet cut blade and if you cannot contour cut then you have just a very big printer. So much more to go through but here are some considerations for your adventure, Always here to help - Irv
If it's in your budget, some banner material is always a plus...
Irving thanks for your help.
I have a Dell Pentium 4 Windows XP, and use Corel Draw X4.
I bought the machine from a local company who will be training me the day they deliver and set it up.

I will have to think of a new setup for my equipment so I can run my USB direct-my desk sits dead center of the shop so I can keep an eye on all the equipment. I currently have my 4 head and single head emboidery machines infront of the desk so there is no room to put the Versacamm, that is why I wanted to run the USB from the computer over the top of the desk to the Versacamm directly behind me.
Hi Michele,

That's exciting news. Here are a few things that we have found to be indispensable.

A large work surface where you can lay everything out. We work out of our home so we really don't have the space for a work bench or table. Fortunately though, we have a large island in our kitchen which doubles as a work table. Here are some of the smaller items:

Self-healing cutting mat
Heavy 40" ruler
Steel razor
Double edge squeegees (varying sizes)
Application tape for decals and signage
Mask for garment vinyl

There are a lot of other items you could purchase, but these are just the basics.
Is this a new SP-300i or a used SP-300? I only ask because you say new and the 300i is only a cat5 network connection there is no USB access.
It is most likely a used one as the USB connection was discontinued as a connection method on the VersaCAMM's about 4 years ago.
It is new-SP-300i and now that I have thought way to hard about this it is not even an issue. Better it happened this way then the other way around. When I looked it up I must have been reading the old models specs!! Thanks!!!

ummm keep some laminate on hand to match with your gloss vinyl. I would recommend getting a big squeegee by signs by dale. Google it and get the 30" version, i have one and i use it to lam and mount prints.

For vinyl i order 3MIJ35-C matte and laminate it with a gloss overlaminate. Matte vinyl prints smoother and less grainy than gloss. When you overlamiante it with gloss you will never know you printed on matte :)

A cheaper alternative that works for yard signs and temporary uses is general formulations vinyl concept 203 with a oracal 200 or 210 overlaminate. You can buy this from Fellers.

Good luck and enjoy!

The Big Squeegee is awesome for small jobs. I love mine. Would much rather use than than my full sized laminator.
