A Digital Printing Network

Hi all

Im kinda new to the Versacamm world and I have run into two small problems.

My Sp540i is only 3 months old. I havent exactly been over working the machine however Ive been careful to keep it cleaned regularly. However, I ran into 2 problems printing today.

Firstly the heat transfer media i was printing on was sticking in the printer as it was feeding through on a printing job. I found myself having to gently pull it as it was printing. Ive used this media before without a problem.

Secondly, the print was fine at first but then began to get very streaky. I checked my ink levels which are about 60%. As I said, Ive been cleaning regularly.

Any ideas on both issues? The weather is kinda humid here today. I was thinking that might be causing the sticking problem.

BTW, I haven't adjusted any of the vacuum or heat settings at all since I got the printer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Declan there are many variables that can cause your symtoms. When you say sticking are you talking top or bottom. I will assume you mean bottom. If you check your profile ensure you use the right one - it sounds as if you vacuum is too high. The streaking sounds as if you need a head cleaning. Usually streaking is banding and the i series adjusted for banding so really feel your issues are profiles and the ink is not laying down properly. If you are pulling the media it will be impossible not to get streakng as the ink lays down in an overlaying process. Also check your feed calibration so if none of this makes sense - download your manual and run through the tests. Then ask specific questions.
Declan,

You might want to check the underside of your media clamps. Sometimes adhesive will build up on the underside which will cause your media to stick.
