This may be a stupid question, but is there a way to achieve the same color printing on a versa camm as the Stahls Thermo Film? Basically when I use the Roland Color Chart there really is not anything close that matches the orange film. I know that it is 2 different materials and you are printing on white and the film is dyed all the way trough. My boss does not seem to understand this stuff and I try to tell him but thought I would put this out there and see.

You'll probably never get an exact match for the reasons you mentioned and also because of our CMYK inks but you can probably come pretty darn close.
These were printed on Oracal, Max Impact, using 172 orange on my machine.
Crappy phone pictures so I'm not sure how the color will display...............but in "real' life, it looks pretty close to the orange film I have here.

Permalink Reply by Adam Zilch on November 13, 2012 at 12:24pm Another color question for you guys. What color would you use in the Roland color system to use for navy? It seems everything that I have tried is either to light or to purple.
Permalink Reply by Steven Jackson - Admin on November 14, 2012 at 10:09am Navy blue is slightly outside of the gamut on CMYK printers so it will shift to a purplish tint. I recommend using either a CMYK color for the navy blue or a better avenue would be the Roland Spot color process.
The one I would pick from my chart would be either RVW_PR25K or RVW_DP24K

Permalink Reply by Steven Jackson - Admin on November 15, 2012 at 4:42am have you tried the eco print or quickprint profile with the media? They should have better color reproduction for you.
Permalink Reply by Adam Zilch on October 23, 2012 at 4:44pm OK I will be printing on Eco Print, what profile should I use?

Permalink Reply by Steven Jackson - Admin on October 23, 2012 at 4:51pm go to the downloads section and download the profile for quick or eco print for the model of printer you have. that should get you good results.
Permalink Reply by Adam Zilch on October 23, 2012 at 5:46pm Sorry kinda slow today, is that Quick Print different than the one I have already? Guessing that the downloads for 300 are the same as 540i
Adam
Permalink Reply by irving donaldson on October 23, 2012 at 6:58pm they are not the same - profiles takes a lot of things into consideration and the drying time for a 300 is not the same for a 540. The 540i and 540 would be a closer match than the 300, but even they have different profiles, because the i has improved technology, allegedly.
Permalink Reply by Adam Zilch on October 23, 2012 at 7:27pm K I must be blind I don't see any 540i profiles in the download section
