Steve,

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I notice a few of us were talking about different accessories, parts, materials, etc for the versalaser. I thought I'd start a new thread for us to chat about it...

Anyways, I'll continue where Irv left off about leveling his laser....

"...Reply by irving donaldson 6 hours ago

Do you to know if your laser is not balanced (or not within tolerance) it will give you a door open error. Now were is that written. It took me 4 days to figure that one out - but I did not give up...."

Irv, are you talking about the whole laser or just the attachment inside...cutting table, etc? How slanted is your table? I've never experienced that before.

Steve/Irv,

Do you have any pics of the things you've made?

Here's a minibat I did this weekend...

Nice bat! I created a laser area on the forum and moved your discussion here. I will try to get some pictures posted up soon but evidently have some videos that need to be finished first ;-)
@Steve - great for creating a Laser area - I am for it - @ Joseph - thanks for showing the need
my entire table was off - I had it in a temporary area and the back legs were not on the table - it had looked leveled but I could not get the door open to go away. Being a holiday weekend no tech support until today. However yesterday when I placed all four legs on the table - the head started moving and it went through it systems check. When I talked to tech today the said there is no error list for customers only Techs - he did send me a tech manual but I did not have the time. he said they are there to help. So for the last two weeks - I have actually burned apiece of cardboard saying test with no fan. I am about an hour away from setting up the fan while I wait for all of the samples to arrive. I am going to look at bats.
I love the bats - Joe was that with or w/o rotary - did you do the art work? Darn now I have to get bats! lol
The logo on the left was pulled from an online source, but the Salinas FD was recreated by hand. It was created with the rotary attachment, but it can also be done without it. If you don't have the attachment you are limited to the width of the flatness of the bat...so for example, it the bat is 2" wide, you probably only have about .75" of flatness until the bat curves and then the graphic will get longated..or oblong. By using the attachment, the laser stays on the same Y axis and only moves left and right on the X, while the rotary attahment spins it.

Irv, what model of lasr did you get? What are the specs and attachments you bought?

Steve, You said you got the 25W 16x12 Versalaser, correct? If you do have that one, the bats wont fit in the rotary attahment. You can lay them flat and engrave on top, but not around. This was my limitation on my 16x12 VL200. This is why I went with the 24x12 50W. I think the vendor makes shorter bats...possibly 16", but they may not fit either since the rotary loses a couple inches when set inside. They do have another size...I think 7", but it's not as impressive.
Joe,
I have the VLS 3.5 24x12 35 watt system. The bats should fit fine. I am looking forward to giving them a try!
OK..Then they will fit.

By the way, are you just getting up? What time is it over there..about 5am? I'm just about to take a shower and go to bed.
Yup - I get up at 4:30. Just got back from my morning workout. I am trying to look nice and skinny when I retire from the Navy in September!
I purchased the VL3.5 30W with rotary attachment - no cabinet - no HD Lens - No air assist.

Here is an update - I go to cut this morning and I get the door open error - thinking I fixed this before - I take out the level and see that it is off - after making necessary corrections - same result - door open. I am ticked and then I looked and see the power cord not connected to the machine. Would you believe that the machine lights come on and talks to the computer with the power cord not attached. Here is what to look for: If you do not get a red dot and here the head moving - THE CORD IS NOT CONNECTED - I am only trying to save you some hours. Where is this stuff written - why is this not documented somewhere. Call me silly but I took a post masters course on Usability and universal is flunking.
How is it powering on without the power cord? You do get about 5V coming from the USB cable, but I was under the assumption that you had powered it on when you saw this error. Can you send me a screen shot. I'm curious as to where this door error is popping up.
I will send you a screen shot - but it is the lower left corner - where the idle bar is - I am going now to reproduce - if I mess my machine up - I am sending you and pending jobs - lol
on screen lower left - on machine - red and green lite blinks - however no red dot laser and no head movement without plug
Wow Irv..That is the biggest file I've seen for such a small picture.
Are we going to have to go over file attachment etiquette :-D

I did see it, but I've never had that issue and the feet of my laser have sat off the edge of the counter-top before(not level).

On the power plug issue:
What happens if the power isn't on and you try hitting the power button on the top corner..nothing right?
