I am moving my machine into a commercial store front location and the rooms are carpeted with commercial style carpet.

Will the machine perform fine on carpet? I am on hardwood flooring now and was just wondering if the carpet would cause any printing issues.

Thanks!

I have always had carpet under my printers. no worries - they work fine!

Mine is on carpet.  Because I have animals - I do put coroplast down so that when I print longs prints (which is every day) they touch the coroplast rather than the carpet.  I just wipe the coroplast down each day.

Our versacamm is on carpet too.

I have had some issues with carpet as static electricity associated with the media can pull loose strands onto the media and smudge the print ,Have had a strand of carpet fix itself to the carriage and wipe the ink through the print as it goes back and forth but it didnt happen too often

I would think static would be an issue!

We had carpet in our last place and it was terrible.  Strands would stick to the media every time it hit the floor.  his being said, we used low quality, Home Depot carpet so I will assume that was a huge factor.  We now have it on concrete.  So much better.

If you are worried about the carpet being an issue, buy those rubber mats (or low pile static-free carpet) that come in squares (which are usually targeted for garages or workout rooms) to put under your machine's work area. They keep the floor under the machine clean and if ink spills or leaks it won't ruin your wall-to-wall carpet.

I found some rubber squares for about $20 for a set of 8 at Costco. A few sets covers my 54" machine area and it is much easier to sweep and clean up than carpeting.
