I got a sp-300v previous owner says he replaced the pump about 3 months ago, but every time it pump it make loud popping noise. I was wondering if this is a normal sound for the ink pumps or if i should be concerned

Permalink Reply by irving donaldson on October 21, 2012 at 1:04pm Timothy welcome to MYVC and happy camming. It is hard to tell without hearing the sound. When the pump works it clears the captop and pulls ink from the lines into the dampers and the heads. There is a clucking sound that is normal. If the pump was not secured properly, then there could also be a noise of the pump hitting the housing when it starts. Why don't you post a picture of your nozzle test. Then I can see if you pump is working - that will not evaluate the noise however. BTW - did he state whether he or a tech replaced it.

+1 for Irv's suggestion of the test print. It will tell us a lot.
