How is this done?

I was in a sporting goods store recently and was browsing the kayak section.  I came across a brand of kayak that had logos which had to have been applied as decals but running the fingers across it there were no raised decal edges.  It wasn't molded into the plastic.  How do they apply a decal then get rid of the carrier?
