Permalink Reply by Richard Ledenican on June 20, 2012 at 4:16pm We have made beautiful car magnets and business cards printing directly on the material however it is important to cut the magnet to a smaller piece so you do not have the strain due to weight. We mostly print on on vinyl, laminate, then install using the laminator rollers for even adhesion. light premask on the bottom works good to keep from sticking while going through. We install most bigger sized prints to substrates using the laminator, so much quicker and we don't hardly ever have a redo.
Permalink Reply by Mike F on June 21, 2012 at 10:52am Premasking the bottom of the magnet is a pretty good idea, but wouldn't laying it on top of a piece of coroplast work just as well without wasting premask?
Permalink Reply by Richard Ledenican on June 21, 2012 at 8:06pm Coroplast sure will work great. Our royal 55" only opens so far and we like to do our work as closed as possible. We leave the masking on the bottom when we give it to the customer. Trimmed to shape from the bottom side with the edges rounded to shape makes a nice finished touch.( Low Tack) We also use non adhesive static film over the top. A tad overkill but no one else around does it and it makes a difference to the customer.
