A Digital Printing Network

I have an opportunity to purchase a HIX n840 air assist heat press used for around 600. I haven't  been able to find to much info on this unit. I assume its a few years old as its been replaced by the 880-d on the hix website. A new one is over 2 grand

I am currently using a knight 16 x 16 digital temp but no pressure settings.

Does anyone have any experience with this unit? Anything I should be looking for when I see the unit and is there a way to test for even heat and temp?

I am not concerned about the need for a compressor as I have air at my shop already.

Robert I don't have a Hix press. But you could always use some of those temperature test strips on any press.

If I were you, though, I'd call down there and talk to Cliff or one of his techs.

Nice folks.

They'll be able to tell you exactly what to look for when testing.

Turns out I know the owner. We used to purchase shirts and hats from him for our construction co. He bought 2 of these units a few years back for one job and they have been idle most of the time since he is primarily a screen printer and embroiderer. He is going to set them both up to test next week. I am borrowing a laser temp gun to test the platen for even heat etc. in the meantime I will make the call as you suggested and get more info

thanks
