Well folks, I stepped in it this last week. We have the Popeye Picnic here each year the weekend after Labor day. I am on the picnic committee so it can get pretty busy in the weeks leading up to the event. Of course everyone waits until the last minute to order banners or printing so this adds to the stress level. This year was no different and wouldn't you know right in the middle of printing some last minute banners the day before the picnic I ran out of Magenta ink on my Versacamm. Panic set in as it was about 4 PM on a Thursday. We called the closest reseller but they no longer carried the inks. We called another and they had it. Next morning my brother volunteered to drive the hour and a half to get what we needed as soon as they opened. Before noon we were up and running again and finished everything on time.
The lesson here is if you know you have a large event coming up and everyone waits until the last minute, for goodness sake check your ink levels and raw material supplies ahead of time. This could have been a great embarrassment to us and to me as an organizer of the event. Sometimes I feel like Homer Simpson and want to say D'oh!
