Brad, first make sure that outline around your text is a contour NOT an outline created with your outline tool

Duplicate the contour/move it to the back and use your down arrow key to move it down a bit

Shift Select both the original contour and the duplicate and Weld them together

 

All done!

Thanks but the shadow is different on the left side than the right side . How do i get it to go from left to center to right on the word?

Apply your text (with the first contour) to the path FIRST

When you then duplicate that contour and move it down, it should offset

Like this?

Or am I missing something?
