A Digital Printing Network

Hey everyone,

I'm working on getting a sample material figured out. I'm looking to print these on my VP540 - and the samples I have are 8.5 x 11 Avery-looking sheets. The sheets are glossy, extremely scratch-resistant, and have a permanent adhesive backing. It does not have an over-laminate. Looks like these were laser-printed.

These will be used for labeling tool boxes. Hardware, specifically - nuts, bolts, screws, etc. Scratch resistance is a must! I'd been advised that vinyl scratches, so that route may not be appropriate. Does anyone know what material this matches, that I can run through my VP540? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Tom

If it doesn't have a clear overlaminate, then my guess is that it DOES have a printed clear topcoat. Otherwise the printing would definitely scratch off. I use clear laminate film as an overlay on any decals I do that need protection, and even use it for signs...and it holds up well. There is no clearcoating or topcoating I've ever heard of that 'guarantees' not to ever scratch or show wear. I have a Jeep Jamboree decal in my hand, printed on a silver mylar (?) adhesive backing, and it appears to have a very thick clear topcoat of somesort, I don't think it is a laminate, I think it is a printed clear film...makes it look almost bullet proof, very professional. But I will take bets that after a few years or offroad runs stuck to my jeep that it will show scratches. Best you can do is figure out what clean laminate film is going to give the best protection for the job and go with that. Nothing is permanent in this world except death and alimony....LOL...
You can use durasol reg or premimum with air release with a clear laminate. If you use your 8.5 x 11 sheet in your VP540 then you will not get much of a test with the front and back leads. Durasol products are from Imprintables Wearhouse but you can use any of Oracals printable sign vinyl with a laminate to get the same results.
