A Digital Printing Network

Hello all - I'm sure this has been discussed before so I'm sorry to be repetitive. I'm interested in producing wall decals (wordings and images). I hear Seramark is an excellent product - can anyone who has used it comment on the texture? By the description it seems to be more of a fabric than a slick vinyl look.

A lot of the print vinyls I've researched say not to print to the edge - I don't want a white releasee around most of this stuff. I see Oracal has a easy to remove cut vinyl product but I find the colours to be kind of limited. Any suggestions?

thanks Muda

The sample I printed is a fabric like texture, not real rough more like linen or smooth cotton fabric. I printed all the way to the edge no curling. I have removed and placed the sample in different areas numerous times in the past 2 weeks no problems yet.
Roland's GMI wall graphic material  - will curl if you print to the edge.  Seramark go to the edge and you will be fine even if you have to relocate or repostion it.
My sample was too damaged to use but I bought a roll anyway based on the responses here.  I can't wait to try it out but for now I have other irons in the fire.  I'll post on the forum when I finally get to it.

Yup, I'm a seramark fan!  You're right it's not that slick glossy looking vinyl.  When I  used that it had curled so badly by the next day all of my samples had to be tossed.  I didn't know that you couldn't print to the edge, but I had no interest in having a white border.  Unless you are standing right on top of the seramark you can't tell that it has a fabric like texture.  I use it inside, outside and it has held up amazing to this Massachusetts winter.  Try it, you'll like it :-)

Kathy we did not tell you so that you will have to redo it or order Seramark.  Opps you peeped the playbook.  No you just been Sheened.  @ Ken since you are flying blind, If you get to test and do not like my address is ......... I actually have nothing constructive to add.

thanks for all the input guys,

Seramark looks awesome - I'm sure it will suit some purposes really well, I did hope to have options though especially for kids applications (wipe ability) - anyway I'll keep looking and let you know if I come up with any answers.

Has anyone laminated Seramark?

Muda

You can laminate it, spray laminate it, and we have used dry erase laminate on it also for the wipe away ability that you are looking for. Let me know if you are interested in some of the dry erase. I can arrange to get you a sample of material printed, and then laminated with dry erase. Send me an email if you want some - steven@imprintables.com

Hey guys - I'm still looking for a printable, repositionable (SP?) material for wall graphics. I got a sample of Photo Tex which prints fine and is easy to move around (and I can print right to the edge) but I can't pick it up with transfer paper.

Steven has tried to get me a sample of Seramark but is having shipping issues. I would like a Canadian supplier if possible  because the shipping costs are killing me.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Muda, have you thought about contacting Seramark directly?

Also bigsys.com

I haven't, Steven was trying to work something out for me regarding getting me a sample.

I got a whole roll of PhotoTex then discovered I couldn't pick it up with the pre mask I have -

the salesman hasn't gotten back to me with alternatives/suggestions or info about being able to laminate it.

Do you have experience with Seramark? Can you use a transfer tape/pre mask?

Muda

Muda , I have only worked with the samples I received. The things I printed I just removed from the carrier and placed, didn't have a need for masking. I did laminate some of the items with no problem. I don't actually see a need for masking since it is repositional material to start with and does not tear easily.

If vinyl is what you are looking for 3M 4300 is a new removable. I haven't researched it yet

I did the same just created 1 piece items which were easy to deal without a carrier but I am worried if I get an order for something with many pieces - it will have to be "rebuilt" each time it's moved.

What kind of laminate did you use?

I'm looking into Avery 2611 at the moment - I'll keep you posted.
