CorelDraw X5 EPS issue

I am having an issue with aps files in X5. We have 5 locations that employees are sending me files to be cut for. The files exported as EPS files open fine in Versaworks with all spot colors intact. If for some reason I need to edit or reuse parts of a file the spot colors are converted to cmyk colors when opened in X5. Even files from my own computer and palettes, I can export to eps but I can't reopen a file and keep the spot colors. I have been looking around for a solution but I can only find issued with exporting eps files with spot color not for opening them. Hopefully this is a simple setting that I am missing.
