Is anyone else having problems with Corel crashing and crashing and crashing all the darn-it-all time? I went to the Corel users page and they told me to put in a command prompt "%temp%" to empty the temp file to free up the programs memory cache and it helps but,,,,Argggg!! I can't use the trace tool or the contour tool with out an error code from windows.

Permalink Reply by CYW on February 7, 2012 at 9:57pm are you sure about that number John?
I'm thinking you should have SP3 and .686............but I didn't do the hotfix, so my numbers may be off
but I do know for sure there were 3 service packs

Permalink Reply by CYW on February 7, 2012 at 10:08pm Nevermind, I just checked............you must have installed the hotfix which would bring you to that .695 number
My computers weren't effected by those jpg issues so I chose not to install the hot fix
So.........back to your problem
It shouldn't be crashing
Something else is up
Do you have a boatload of fonts?
Do you have Corel set to display the fonts in preview?
Is your Color Styles docker filled to the hilt?
If you don't have a lot of customization set, you could always try the F8 trick and reset your software to it's default
Over the years I've seen the strangest things fixed with F8
Permalink Reply by John Hyde on February 7, 2012 at 10:55pm Thanks I just got done making sure I had all the latest's updates and you are correct I'm good there. I'm going to try f 8 The things I have changed I'll just re-do, not that much to do there.
My comp should be fine I just built it in the summer,Intel extreme motherboard w/Intel i7 2600k processor,8 gbt DDR3 ram,2 hard drives w/ 0 striped raid making 1.3Tig, and Windows 7, 64bit ultimate, graphics card isn't the best but it's a NVIDIA GT520 w/ 1024MB DDR3 ram should be more than enough.
All my fonts are in Font Navigator w/ 300 downloaded, only two custom palettes, but I have lot's of space I built this to last the next 5 to 10 years, my pentium 4 was the stuff 10 years ago but it's junk now I build them to last awhile.
Permalink Reply by John Hyde on February 7, 2012 at 11:09pm BUT?
If the fonts are installed on the program does it use system memory or program memory? Same with color style dockers and such if it uses program memory???? I could have the best system in the world but if I;m using the program not the systems resources? I am gonna try something in the morning, Thanks for the comment, I'll let you know.
Thanks.

Your computer is way good................you should see some of the pieces of junk I've run in the past w/Corel
It really isn't as ornery as some folks claim.
When stuff like this happens, it's hard to diagnose.
But I'll tell you, 9 out of 10 times, it's something you'd never expect.
Years ago, the accumulating list of Color Styles used to do it, sometimes it was an accumulating list of Views that wouldn't stop growing. Some people have trouble with font displays or video cards.
Sometimes, who knows what?
Try F8
Hold it down until it asks you if you want to reset.
You won't lose any files (I promise), only some of the customization you did.
You could also try a Repair from the DVD
keep us updated
This is a good thread and good informatin to have documented in case someone else runs into the same issues.
