A Digital Printing Network
I tried posting this on the Corel forum awhile back but didn't get an answer. After the last update x5 seems to crash when doing a print preview on both the laptop and the desktop. Both are running 64 bit Windows 7 systems. Anyone else have this problem?
I had tons of problems with X5 using 7 64bit, It would crash using the outline trace tool, the contour tool and all the effect tools and if I had a very large file with a lot of objects in it it would barely work at all. A lot of people gave me advice about resetting it and emptying the temp file and that helped a little, the issue was X5 is a 32bit program as soon as I went to X6 it works flawlessly, It's the first Corel Draw made for 64bit. I am running 8 Gigs of ram with a i7 processor and an Intel Extreme Mobo so it wasn't the computer that's for sure.
I just dled x6 trial but I still need x5 to work with smartdesigner.
Yeh I have some stuff that wont work with X6 also, what I did a couple times is start it in X5 then finish it in 6. I like that bitmap effects add on that came with X5.
On that same note.... for some reason I can no longer use my epson flat bed scanner with x6 which is a PIA since I tend to do a lot of full back scanning. Still have to have x5 for that and of course smartdesigner, but x5 crashes a ton when using smartdesigner so until DAS decides to upgrade it's almost not worth the constant hassle of having it crash. When you talk to photoshop and illy uses, they never seem to have the same crash issues :-(
Corel knows about the issue with scanner compatibility in X6, It's supposed to be fixed when the first update comes out, I think they said june or july?. I think they wanted to beat Adobe with releasing their program first, because Adobe just announced there new Illustrator version comes out very soon or it may have been released already.
ahhhhhh thanks for the scanner update, I was really bummed about it since there were no updated drivers for my scanner and it's not like I changed operating systems or anything. That makes me feel better.
