I'm tired of working with Corel/Versacamm on my small laptop and am going to buy a new PC (with an enormous screen to help my old eyes!). Since Phil connected my PC to the Versacamm during the install, I have NO clue how to do this on my new computer. How hard is this to do, and are there any video/picture tutorials for doing this? I need the Cliff's Notes version! :)
I got one better for you, call me and I will walk you through it once you have the computer. Maybe you could take notes on it and post up a Cliff (Diane) notes on it?
Just got off the phone with the computer place, and the guy suggested an internal wireless network card for the PC and to use the standard network card for the printer. Any reason that the wireless card would present a problem? Versaworks is the only VC component that needs to connect to the internet, right?
I'll throw in my $0.02....
Depending on how technical you are, I'd skip the second network card and just get a switch if you have no more ports.
If you add a second network card, you'll have to configure each card's networks setting, and then your PC acts as a rounter with 2 seperate subnets. If you just want more ports on your router, pick up a netgear, linksys, etc switch from Target, Bestbuy, staples, Frys, etc and pug it into your existing router. You can get a switch with 4, 8, 16, 24 or more ports. There will be no additional set on your PC and this would make things alot easier.
Steve, Any particular reason you like to use a second card?
Another issue is that my router is on the second floor while my VC and new computer on the first floor. I'd need a really long cord plus would have to drill a hole through the floor. Appreciate your input though. :)
Joe,
Trust me, after MANY installs, the second card is MUCH easier to work with. You may understand routers, networks, etc, but the typical user does not. KISS simple is better!
