Versacamm 540 - I have several orders to get out during this holiday weekend and I just started the first one only to have the colors come out wrong. Yellow will not work for red. Cleaned heads, made sure the ink is full and now I'm at a loss. Tech support is closed and I must get these done. Any ideas to help would be much appreciated. Cindy
Call for a tech and let them fix it if it is under warranty. Stay with the tech and watch and learn what they are doing and why. Do NOT do anything to void the warranty or cause damage tot he machine. If the head is damaged, and it is through your own fault, it is not covered under warranty. I know it sucks that the job will not get done on time but it is better than having to pay for a $1000 print head.
BTW from what you have said I think it might be a bad capping station or damper. Prob not the head.

BTW Roland only covers the captops for 90 day from date of purchase starting March 09 and suggests replacing all caps and the same time.
For printers shipped on or after March 1, 2009:
The service department will not factor in any compensation on claims that are related to cap top failure.
If a cap top fails during the first 90 days of ownership then Roland DGA will cover the claim as a manufacturer's defect. Cap tops that fail due to the result of wear and tear are not covered under any warranty. To preserve the warranty of the printer, you need to change cap tops periodically.
Tech showed up yesterday and it was a bad captop. Wish I had know enough in the first 90 days because it had been a problem since the first week. Goobs of ink filling the captop and plugging the head. The magenta would leave a swipe of ink at start up across the media. I would have to do a manual clean and all would be fine. Just the last month the magenta would not print but a cleaning would get it going. At least every time but the weekend I had major projects to do. Captops were not covered and I hope some of the service call and mileage are. I guess $300 is better than the price of a head. Appreciate your insight and info. Was up till 1:00 a.m. this morning and just about finished with everything. Only one day late - not too bad. Thanks again.

Good Deal!
Hope they replaced all 4. Just make sure to do your manual cleanings once a week and keep an eye on the wipers if they get too bad replace them. I run into so many customers employees that don't care about the printer because they aren't making the payment. Replace the caps every 6 to 8 months and the wipers as needed.
He didn't replace all the caps - said they looked good but I bought 3 more and will replace them myself. Have the new wipers also - I am making the payments. Was good to have a tech look everything over to make sure I'm in good shape otherwise. He showed me a lot of the insides and what to look for. Not too much business but this machine has doubled what I did last year with just embroidery. I'm loving it.
Thanks again,
Cindy
