A Digital Printing Network

Hello All,

Our office is moving, and of course that means transporting the Versacamm for the first time since it came out of the original shipping crate.

The directions start off saying to have four UNUSED SOL INK cleaning cartridges?  My dealer told me to lock the print head and clean once set up at the new location.  What do you guys think?

I'm hoping not to have to buy the cleaning cartridges, 4 of them isn't cheap!

Thanks fellow Versacammers!

We moved ours 10 miles from our house to the shop and I just locked the head, covered the ink bottle area, and trucked it over. It started up and printed with no issues. If you are shipping the printer, you will need to clear the lines and perform a full ink pump down procedure.

Hope this helps!

You can get away with just a Pump Up. The only reason you'd need to use the cleaning cartridges is if you were to do a head wash. I just had a customer that moved from PA to TX and we recommended he do a head wash because of the distance and because it would be idle for an extended period.

How far are you moving it??
Thanks Guys, the move is about 25 miles and will have it operational immediately. Steven, how did you cover the ink bottle?

Thanks again!
I took the bottle off and then stuck a rag over the opening to catch any ink coming out. If you can transport the unit on the stand, leave the bottle in and do not worry about it. I had t take it off the stand to transport it so we needed to lay it flat.
Even though your move isn't very far, i'd still recommend a pump up.

If you have everything from the install, there's a twist on cap for the drain bottle and a black rubber cap that squeezes in to where the bottle usually is.
I moved mine on Monday. Removed the cartridges, empty the waste bottle and I put it back in place as I moved the printer on its stand. New location, plugged cartridges back in, switched on and no issues. Did a clean, and prints fine.
My installer told me if a cartridge was removed than replaced with a cartridge which was not full that the machine would register it as a full cartridge. (I never tried it) He also said I was supposed to save the shipping carton....too late!
Thanks everyone, and thanks to the site!!!
Hello, we purchased a demo unit and they delivered it fully intact the same day. there was no cleaning nessesary. He began his training of our crew and it printed excellent. The 220 cartrigages were never removed. i really do not know if this is standard procedure, however, the dealer is the #1 distributor of Rolands in the Cleveland area and moves a bunch of them.

Our HP 1500 16 foot solvent printers were another story and a moving nightmar

Wishing you great success in your new location.

Hey Forum, I am getting ready to go though the Move process with the vp-300i as well. How did everything go Eric? Do you just do what Steve did and lock the head and cover the drain bottle area? I have about a 10 mile move as well. Any other hints or tricks? I am thinking of just trying to pack it up flat in the minivan with the locked head and cover the drain area.
Hi Matt, My move went fine without any hicups. I left the Versacamm on its stand with the head locked and the bottle in. Did a quick cleaning at the new location, and was printing immediately. Good Luck!
Sweet Eric!! Plan on moving to the store front this weekend. Fingers are crossed.
