Blank Plates

I am looking for all sorts of size plates for plaques & trophies. I don't have a cutter yet and have been looking for dozens of sizes... any ideas on where I can find these asstd plates? I have tried Marco & JDS and they have a small handful. If you have a cutter and cut the sheets yourself, what do you have and do you like it?

If you're going to get serious into plaques and trophies, of course it's going to pay off to get a cutter. If you're just trying it out and want to get some stock plates, just let me know what you're looking for. We've got all kinds of colors, and of course a cutter!

we use Johnson Plastics for all of our laser blanks. They have everything you need.

Hi Jen,

There is a company called Accucutter which sells different cutters...shears, guillotine, corner rounders, etc. Here is their website: http://www.accucutter.com/

I think it's a little pricey, but I hear they have really nice equipment. The corner cutters also get expensive because of the difference size die sets.

I went with a simple guillotine cutter for about half the price at Main Trophy Supply and have had no problems with it.

They also have this little "maxi press" which is like a 3-in-1 corner rounder/notcher and I think it was only like $150 or less. It does what I need, but I think the other one from Accucutter might be easier to use.

Besides Marco and JDS, you can also check out PDU or Victory. They might have some more pre-made sizes, but not sure.

The nice thing about the cutter is you can cut any size you need.

It IS nice to have your own cutters, however, on the flip side, you have to order sheets and end up with alot of un needed excess. We order exactly what we need (Johnson Plastics) then we don't have waste. On the flip side of that is we always order alittle extra on pieces that might be a piece that is easy to make a mistake with. Just a thought or two

Jenn, I know this is an old post, but I have a 3' Tennsmith shear that I use to cut various sizes. I would be willing to help you out if you haven't found a solution yet.

I don't know the brand of the cutter I have, but the blade holder is all cast steel or iron-base is all cast also. not the newer lightweight models that look more like an upgraded paper cutter. (like JDS carries) 12" width of cut-I've been using it for probably 9-10 years now. Your 'sheet' stock you can get through almost any engraving supplier-I buy it precut to 12" x 24". I use only a diamond drag/rotating spindle engraver-no laser, so I can use any material. You have to make sure you buy ONLY material designated LASER engravable. ZAK PLASTICS is a good supplier for blanks, they will precut quantities of any size for you, and carry a lot of equipment.

I checked several of my catalogs and it looks like everyone now carries the lightweight material cutters. You may not be able to find the one I have. I just looked-and no brand name on it anywhere-just a model number or something.
