Hey Everyone,

I don't know why, but everytime I print banners I get these marks on them. I'm thinking they might be finger prints or something, I"m not sure.  Anyone have this problem?

Thanks!

Disregard folks, looks like it's a media issue.  I just loaded a roll of Roland brand banner and it's printing fine.
Eric, I know you fiqured it out but it is a contamination issue. It looks like finger and hand marks. Usually alcohol and elbow grease removes the contamination before printing.

Yep, Butch is right... media is being handled before printing and leaving residue/oils on it.

Grab yourself a pair of cotton gloves for handling media before print to prevent it occurring in the future.

made the same mistake didn't notice till all 12 feet printed and I didn't need to call CSI to figure out who the culprit was my finger prints were all over it. Guilty your honor

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your reply.  I can definitley see teh finger prints, but at times I got marks in areas that I didn't touch.  I'm thinking this media might is old and contaminated or something, but plan to precut the length, clean it up real good with the alcohol and cotton gloves then print.

Thanks again!

eric, contamination can happen in your shop, manufacturing and any place the media is handled, its always a good rule to wipe down banners with alcohol before printing
Don't always assume the fingers did not get on the media before it arrived. Eric you can use the pre feed and clean on the way out or back in or if you do precut leave enough for the rear to cover the eye.

nice idea Irv - I might try that one!

It always annoys me when I see a hand print on the finished product, especially if I did not catch it in the beginning and could have saved myself a lot of $$
