Can any one help me with banner pricing?  I need to print a banner 2.5' by 14 feet. on Coral 13oz banner material, simple art, about 30% ink coverage.

Are most of you guys using a square foot pricing? and if so, do you start to discount that price when you get into large banners?

I am looking online and see prices all over the map.

Thanks for any help

Good question Matt, I was wondering myself. I just did 5 small 2.5' x 2.5' for a store front that had lettering only. They were probably covering 40% of the vinyl and I charged $15. for each one. 3 of them were on saying and 2 were another. He was OK with that so I don't know if I was right in the ballpark or not. At that size I was thinking that $15. would be a good starting point. But I am hearing some people say $4. sq. ft. I don't know if that is with artwork or not.
We charge between $10 and $5 per sq ft depending on size, qty....usually setting in at about $7.50 per sq ft for banners that are hemmed and with gromets

Doug,

When you say hemmed, do you mean sewn, power taped (the double sided tape) or using hem tape?
We double side tape our banners unless they are really large and we know they will out of doors for an extended period, then we have them sewn.

Thanks for the replys guys. Doug those are the prices I was thinking. If we give it away, were fools. Art time, setup, material cost, were and tear on the machine, etc. These are expensive machines, you have to get a return for your investment.
If you try to be the lowest price , you will be out of business , and wasting your time.
Check the web site www.vistaprint.com. It will show you how much banners are selling for online and how they are being marketed.
I don't know if you noticed it but they do not offer a banner larger than 2.5 on their site. hhhhhmmmmm.... only a 30 inch printer maybe? once you have the banner picked (I picked a 6 x 2.5 with a 15oz vinyl) and then designed and set it up, dealt with them trying to sell me a ton more stuff, then added shipping, I got a total of $65. My price in the shop would have been $84 for that banner and I would have given the customer much more control and personal service. Just a few thoughts for you!
Vista Print is no bargain at the best. I had a recent customer order the "free" business cards. Cost him $38 when he was done and they were awful.

A little work with a customer should always be able to steer away a Vista Print customer if we know our stuff.

go to signcraft.com they have a pricing online system you could sign up for 1 week free. It is a great magzine and worth the subscription and they will send you the hard copy of the price book
Matt,

As a point of reference, we've used Colorado Timberline for some of our large banners (we only have an SP300). For a
4' x 10' banner we were charged $65.00 delivered. The banner had sewn hems, with grommets. Ink coverage was at about 50%.
Colorado Timberline as in the clothing line?
John,

Sorry, I didn't see your post. Yes, Colorado Timberline the one that offers clothing. If you're in the market for dtg printing, they also do that too. Here's their link:
