Can any one help me with banner pricing?  I need to print a banner 2.5' by 14 feet. on Coral 13oz banner material, simple art, about 30% ink coverage.

Are most of you guys using a square foot pricing? and if so, do you start to discount that price when you get into large banners?

I am looking online and see prices all over the map.

Thanks for any help

I recall seeing this topic a few times, and everyone seems to match local prices. I like to figure out what my cost is, then mark up it by percentage. We obviously know the cost of the banner material, the hard part is figuring out the cost of ink. Some jobs use a lot of ink, some use a little. Anyone know how to gauge the cost of ink usage?
Ink usage works out to be a maximum of $0.32 per square foot if you use 100% of all four inks. You can calculate what the cost is for any specific job by looking at the est ink use on the main screen of Versaworks for the job. It will show you in cc (ml) what the use for that job is going to be. You can then calculate what the cost would be based on what you pay for an ink cartridge. Say you pay $120 for a 440ml cartridge. Then the ink would cost $0.27 per ml. if you are using .50 cc (.50 ml) then the cost would be about $0.14 for the job.

Hope this helps!
Holy Cow that's fantastic! I love this site, thanks Steve!!
Kevin,

"...For a 4' x 10' banner we were charged $65.00 delivered. The banner had sewn hems, with grommets..."

Was this wholesale price, or the retail price from Colorado Timberline? $65 for 40sqft seams extremely low and you mention that was with shipping. They only sell to resalers, right? Anyone can't just go on there and order a banner, can they?
Revisiting this banner pricing subject, I had a local sign company provide a quote to my private email (so this isn't contract pricing but general public pricing) on a 10' x 4' full color, edge to edge, hemmed and grommets.  $140.  That is what my local market is like.  $3.50 sf.

Just to chime in:)

Don't forget to figure in the COST OF YOUR PRINTER.  Vinyl and ink are cheap, your time and equipment are not!!!
