"What you described would seem to be solved with a new damper? What you did by by passing the choke took you to a whole new level.  If you can post your nozzle test, that would help. Swapping of parts on these printers is the actual best way to…"

We have a Versacamm VS540i that has had the light black completely drop out. We have had similar issues before where the choke has failed causing this to happen (diagnosing that the first time was interesting to say the least) so when it happened with the light black I thought it would be an easy fix. (Bypass the choke with a piece of brass tubing) That was not the case this time, so I proceeded to step 2, confirming I could draw ink through the line and then replacing the damper. "A deflection whether by dried ink in the nozzle or a bent nozzle causes ink to be dropped where it should not be. When it is in white space it is noted by appearing to be a blue mist."

"Another point I would add is that as you are using Max Impact, it does put down more ink as well. I would suggest trying maybe just Pre-Press US and see how that looks. Even playing around with different profiles might help reduce the overspray."
